WHY BMAB NOW HAS ZERO INTERGRITY!
Hello everyone. I am really sad we have come to the point where I have to make a Facebook post about this. Most of you probably know me and know that I like transparency and hate situations that work bad for everyone. Despite all my best efforts to resolve this issue directly with BMAB, they were just not interested to make this different from the latter.
As a pre-story, a few months ago I made a report to Bernhard Mayr, president of BMAB, WBGF, and WBIF, about a player you may know, named Maya Peycheva, and still as of today acting as "Wbif Representative for Bulgaria". The report contained misconduct of the named player which was clearly unethical and from there, it was hurting the progress of Backgammon such a personality to be a representative of one of the organisations representing the game.
Unfortunately, my report was completely ignored despite my multiple requests. After a short contact with a friend involved in the organisations, I figured I could take the case directly to the WBGF Ethics Committee. Thee case was never reviewed by the committee and so Peycheva remained representative just because Bernhard Mayr is a good friend of hers.
And now we come to today's case, which has actually been developing in the last few weeks.
On 20th September, Maya Peycheva has made a BMAB submission. The tournament she submitted was to be played on.... 13th September. Yes, you read that right: One week before the submission.
Clearly, this would be the latest case where Peycheva decides to cheat the system - first check if she likes her PR, then submit. Of course, she even reached a new title in that submission. Coincidence?
After I presented the issue to Bernhard Mayr, hoping that finally her conduct will receive the appropriate consequences.
His response though shocked me: Accusing me of having a "bad character", he stated Peycheva had a chat with him before the tournament asking him that the tournament counts. Of course, to the request to send me this chat for verification, he only became more aggressive and no chat was shown.
For those that don't know, the form to register a tournament on BMAB takes 30 to 60 seconds to fill. There is no reason to submit a tournament "via chat", and as the tournament was not submitted before it was played, there is zero reason it should count, and the player who attempts to submit a tournament post-factum really has no place there.
Anyway.
After asking another BMAB representative, again I failed to receive proof of the doomed chat-submission, which left no doubt anymore: This was clear cheating supported by the president of BMAB, WBGF and WBIF.
And the issue does not stop there: I proceeded to ask Bernhard for a refund of my remaining BMAB membership as I do not want to support such an organisation, where cheating is supported and noticing cheaters is deemed "bad character", and what followed shocked me like never before: Bernhard, instead of just sending me the refund or refusing to send it, which would have just been another red flag, decided to wave the reddest flag of all for his organisation's integrity: He threatened he would ban ME. I just had told him I am quitting... Of course, he doesn't like this.
I have gone already way too long. Let me know what you all think and if you have more questions about what happened when and where, just write a comment or send me a private message. I also have proof of all chats with Bernhard which I will show to anyone who requests it. For now, I am attaching the picture of Maya Peycheva's BMAB profile - she is now M2, with a tournament submitted after it was played - please notice the submission date, 20th September, with the tournament date 13th. Congratulations!
